Mine is in full sun.. full full blazing hot sun. It gets a little dappled shade from the butterfly bushes but for the most part, hot rocky sun. I love that it's spread a bit. I'm hoping that it'll spread further. They're about 18" wide now from when I bought them as about 8". I wonder if I actually *fed* them & watered them if they'd get bigger. LOLLL
