Looks suspiciously like Dr. Huey to me. If so, try to pull that cane (or those canes) off the plant rather than cutting them. Cutting only stimulates more growth. If you can find where it's coming from, under the graft, pull downward to remove the cane.

It's certainly a nice and healthy Dr. Huey, if that's any consolation.
