From what I'm seeing in my own plants, a hot August isn't going to help unless it heats up quick and stay that way for a while!
It seems alot of my stuff is preparing for dormancy already, the new leaves emerge no larger than the previous, and old leaves yellow extremely rapidly.
Affecting colocasia more than alocasia at this point...
It's a problem because if they revert to heavy veg growth again, it's very likely to produce soft tubers that don't harden off by winter, it greatly reduces shelf life and great increases the chances of devastating rot, and/or desiccation...
Of course semi dormant tubers this time of year would have a higher likelihood of infection and they won't be storing as much sugars for winter...
Neither is good!
The weather started out great, but took a sharp downturn...
My plants followed suit, move for move...
Rather disappointing...
