We can't require posters to give any particular information. I think there are some posters who would rather not make their area public (just as some don't want their given names out there) and there are probably "new" gardeners who don't know about zones or realize that what I grow in Florida may not grow in the NW and vice versa. I usually ask if they can give us a general idea of the part of the country they live in.
