I had rust for the first time last year and I think my screams could be heard in Idaho. It started in spring with new purchases from a southern grower (lesson learned), and after it got so bad by late spring, I resorted to pitching the worst offenders. By late August there were no new infections, and I thought I was safe. No sireee BOB! It returned in mid September and got a few more daylilies all spotted up. I don't spray (and won't spray), so pulling the infected leaves, or pitching the whole plant were my first two moves on trying to keep the infection from spreading. There were about 3 or 4 that had minimal infection however and for those, I put them under the back porch away from any moisture (including morning dew) and continued pulling any leaves that showed further infection. Finally, I had it all but stopped again. Fortunately we had a normal winter this year, and it got cold enough, long enough that no rust (knock on wood) so far has showed up this year. Just remember that water spreads rust as well as wind, so if yours are in pots try protecting them from overhead watering either by nature or nurture.....Good luck.........Maryl
