Oh boy. Well first of all -- thank you Lori for letting the thread stay. I'm very sorry for the loss of your aussie. They are remarkable dogs. My Dad had a female, and a good friend of mine has had several. What was your boy's name? And how did you lose him?
Debra -- I'm so sorry about Russell. My sister has lost three dogs to cancer -- that damned disease. Kills pets and people that we love.
My Maddie was lost, ultimately, to kidney failure. She also had spinal arthritis, which caused incontinence -- but a wonderful animal chiropractor kept her comfortable and *continent* for 2-1/2 years that we otherwise would not have had. She made it to 16 years old. Sometimes I miss her so much I can barely breathe -- she was my once-in-a-lifetime heart dog. Sitting here crying just talking about her.
But the puppy helps. She is so busy and smart and funny. I guess that's why God made puppies, yes? To help us move past the grief? And to answer your question Debra -- yes, she is a sweet puppy. Sometimes. But sometimes she's a vicious attack-dog. And sometimes she's a stalker of monsters! And sometimes she's a killer of tennis shoes!! She just came into the family room dragging one of my socks that I took off and left in the bathroom last night. The look on her face is priceless -- "look what I found!!!" There's something going on ALL the time!!!
