Absolutely agree with the above, though Osmanthus fragrans gets big enough to make some shade, a worthy attribute for any entity.
Moonflower vine (always speckled with spider mites) and 4'o'clocks (Mirabilis jalapa,) kind of a gangly looking plant with boring plain green leaves. The dead wrinkled flowers is all one sees except very early or late in the day on both of these.
Oriental lilies. Sure they're pretty, but only there for about a week, no face is pretty enough for that to be OK, but add the scent & it's worth finding space for a few.
When I lived in OH I got a mock orange (Philadelphus) shrub just for the scented blooms.
Dying to sniff Hoya, so considering buying one, just to wait for the blooms...
