Here in zone 8a the Alstroemerias die back to dormant in harder winters but keep a few green shoots in milder winters. No issues, we get down to minus 13 celcius at our worst, but frquently get minus 7 or 8. I suggest a trial in a more sheltered site and see how it goes!
