Last year, I bought passiflora that were not supposed to be hardy in my zone 6 garden. I planted them next to climbing roses up next to our house. They didn't grow much because we had the summer with heat from hell, so I forgot I had them. This year, they were back! They are now covering the roses and spreading all through the whole flower bed. The blooms are lovely, but I'm a little concerned that by planting them next to the warm brick house i have provided them with zone 8 protection. Even if we do get a cold winter, I may be stuck with these! Had I known about this microclimate, I would have corralled them in pots! yikes!
BTW--I would never have guessed that the leaves in that second picture are passiflora. They don't look anything like the ones I have seen. I'll be on the lookout for those!
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
