I hope you got your money back ! Those roots were butchered !

Oh, how I yearn for the old days when I could go out to the nursery and pull the bare root roses out of the sawdust and look at the roots. They were never shorter than 2' ... and that is after they had been cleaned up for sale.

The only nursery I trust down the mountain, cuts the roots back to fit a five gal nursery can, but whoever their subcontractor is that supplies the nursery knows how to bud roses properly. Unfortunately, they are not going to carry any rose that calls my name this season, so no new roses for me in 2014.

I won't even bother to go to any of the other nurseries down there. They may have a wider selection, but they really don't care for their stock well. And the one nursery up here ... meh.
