Diann: Based on your personal experience and discussion, I'm pretty much convinced Roundup can be used successfully when carefully applied. The fact that this information comes from you, carries a lot of weight with me. That, along with Rick's knowledge, gives me the confidence I needed. I guess I should give my daughter more credit than I have been when it comes to the use of Roundup. She apparently knows what she's doing.

Oh, on the subject of newspaper mulch--some readers may pick up on the idea. Use only the back and white sections to be safe around root crops.
