yes...Tiffany... they will gather themselves together and give another flush of blooms... I found blooms summer and winter on them... My first one was an old souther heirloom one I got from my mothers twin sister... I had it for years and when I returned from a summer or winter vacation I'd see the spent blooms... then it started to bloom for me while I was there... to took maybe 3 or 4 years to get it together to start... I lost mine about the time Velma lost hers also .. to an early freeze... I then got one from Logees and it bloomed out in a year or two and Velma said thet it wasn 't like our old family one... so i asked about for a cutting of one that might be the old southern version for Velma... unfortunately she died before seeing any of these flower... I got one cutting that was reportedly from a 6' wide one in New Orleans... another one from outside Nashville... and another one from CA that had been brouht there from the south... these are the ones I have now...
I love the old stories .. of folks growing them in Appalachian coal towns... where the mother would have one and watch it till it was to open and they would have a party to celebrate the event... and it would bloom a big pure white flower...for the party... the flowers the only real white item in the towns filled with black coal dust... very special..
.By the time I came along...we were delta folks so we didn't have quite that family story... but the festive party aspect of the awaited bloom was still in my families stories of past generations..... they were quite hardy and pieces would travel westward by wagon with the opening of new lands... till they stopped and set up housekeeping...
Thanks David .. it is indeed developed likely from the big New Orleans plant.. it's twice the size of the others started at the same time.. and grown the same way/place I tip my hat to you.
