The Hawaiian Bells (if that is what you are referring to - Stictocardia beraviensis) will grow three feet a day in the summer. In spite of its beautiful blooms I had to get rid of it.
I do have the New Guinea trumpet vine (Tecomanthe) and it has put on a lot of growth this past year. I will start pruning it hard after its flowering next spring. But it is now covering my pergola and absolutely stunning.
