Hi JulieB, I have this same plant in a container on my patio too, and it does the same thing this time of year, just generally starts looking a little ratty…I let mine go through the winter, and don't cut back until the spring…I'm always fearful that we are still yet to get some cold and possibly frosty nights. If cut back now, it would begin to put out new growth, which wouldn't be able to handle the cold.
