Rita,
I, too filled up my bird feeder again. The Blue Jays are monopolizing the feeder, not allowing the little Snow Birds (Chickadees) to even get close. They are ravenous. I have a large suet feeder which I always keep filled. Our butcher here is wonderful. He makes bags of it after he cuts the fat off the meat, and anyone can pick up a package of suet for FREE. We love our birds here in the mountains, and care about there well being, as we do about our pets.
As for the snow, it has been snowing since 7:30am here in the mountains. It's a light snow but has already accumulated several inches. The bulk of the snow will arrive as the southern storm joins the northern storm coming across the Great Lakes this evening. The temps will plummet, and will bring in those bitter cold north winds. Hence it will become a noreaster. The temperature right now is registering at -3 below zero. Let's hope the power does not go out in the next several days. That will keep me awake all night, as I do not have a backup generator. With global warming, and weather patterns changing dramatically, a generator is on my list for installation next summer.
