Aquilegia flavescens has short, knobby spurs, not the lengthy ones shown in the photo above. Since the plant is a native North American species (and not much in cultivation) and since the photographer is European, I'd guess it's a photo taken in a garden, and that the plant is actually a garden hybrid between
A. flavescens and whatever other longer-spurred columbines were being grown there. Columbines are well-known for being extremely, as they say, "promiscuous"
... meaning that hybridization occurs very easily and that subsequent generations are often no longer representative of the species if there are other columbines around for pollination.
I posted some photos from plants in the wild and you can see the differences. (By the way, googling this species, the photo record for it is horribly mixed up. I wish more sites would post a means of contact, so that the misidentifications could be pointed out, and, with hope, corrected.)
