Different cultivars seem to be happy in different zones. I have tried 'Sea Thunder' here in Zone 5b several times and have always lost it. Same in a friends garden. It is a gorgeous Hosta and I wish it would grow here. I did get 'Vulcan' last summer which is a similar color pattern.
