It is often the case that people post photos to our plants database, and then copy the resulting db_photo tag into a thread. This gives a nice presentation, shows the photo along with the name of the plant, and gives an opportunity to give thumbs and acorns to the poster for the specific image.

Other times, people post a photo directly to a thread, and at some point in the future they or someone else imports it into the database. The nice thing about this is that the image is then associated with a plant, and visitors to the database get convenient access to view the picture, but the thread is unchanged and the photo is still just a lightbox photo with no visible plant link.

So, I have updated the system this morning to go through all the past threads and try to match up the pictures to already imported photos in the database. I found over 20,000 such pictures, and I converted the lightbox tags to the correct db_photo tag!

Moreover, starting now, when you see an image in a thread and you import it to a plant in the database, once the import is approved, the lightbox tag in the post will automatically switch over to the db_photo tag.

I believe this will be a huge improvement to how photos are enjoyed in the forums at ATP.
