This is maybe a little late for this year, but I've taken a neighbor's Christmas tree that was put out in the trash and cut it up into mulch for those plants which will enjoy their soil being a little more acid.

I just cut the branches off with a pair of pruners and arranged the boughs beneath the plants as if they are a wreath -- looks quite pretty and I personally love the pine aroma.

This takes a small problem (an Christmas tree that is no longer wanted) and turns it into something of value in your yard.
