I enjoyed growing some from seed, just inherited ones over the years. I just started two years ago, had good germination but attrition from the squirrels and other problems left me with only three after a year. Started more from seeds this past year, once I had good germination, but don't know how well they are going to fair during all this ice and snow, something we almost never have. Anyhow, the ones I grew this past year so far have looked stronger from the beginning and have already surpassed the ones grown the year before, so I have high hopes. Just normal blooms are fine by me, not too picky about my choices yet, I still have plenty of room in some of my beds. Three years seems like a long time, but by being able to plant them out in small nursery beds, and having succession of crops I think the time will go by without even noticing it, unfortunately the rest of my life passes by like that also.
