Welcome!
:welcome:

I am in 5b to 6 and I grew a couple of Luddy's years ago. They were not top performers here, but they survived.

My advice, for new people, is to look up the AHS display gardens in your area, and go visit them when they are blooming. Talk to the owners and see what they say about what does well. Also, on the AHS site, look at your region's Popularity Polls. Great info there for more plants that do really well.

Click on my name to get to my profile... I have done some articles on display gardens, Pop Polls and such.

I don't recommend buying unnamed plants. At some point, you will more than likely be trying to figure out what they are, and it is nearly impossible.

Try your best to keep your plants labeled. You may not think you will be hybridizing, or selling, but eventually you might be. Chances are good that at the least, you will want to give away plants you got early on, to make pace for plants you buy later, and you will want accurate names with them. One of my article- tips is how to use a plastic knife to make an underground marker. Works great!

More people will be along with more advice!

Welcome!
