I think your idea is great! We have become hooked on those idealized suburban lawns while fruits trees and shrubs, vegetable gardens and flowers are so much more beautiful! I had the idea, when I lived in the suburbs, of planing all my "extra" vegetable plants near the sidewalk and inviting the neighbors to enjoy them!
