I'm not sure it would adhere long term, and might crack and peel especially if your pond has extreme weather changes. Since it is just a small kiddie pool, what about draining it, lining it with black heavy duty construction trash bags and then reassemble. I think you would have to re-do this every few years as the sun may deteriorate it. But it would look nice, and be really inexpensive.
