The daylilies won't be potted, they will get planted just as if they were going into the ground. The beds are now filled with pine bark and sand. The wood is treated so it should last awhile and not rot. I think Fred's has lasted 7 or so years so far.
We don't have a well right now, it dried up years ago, so I'm trying an experiment with the watering. I have to try and save where I can on the water bill until we can get another well dug (couple of years down the road). I made drip lines out of pvc and ran it down the length of the beds; it will be hooked to the water hose.
I can turn the water on and let it do its thing and since the water comes out slowly it will save on usage. I was going to use regular soaker hoses but it was a lot cheaper buying the pvc and doing it ourselves. The reason for trying this is I didn't really want to stand around and have to water everything by hand every day. But, the main reason I wanted to try this instead of putting in a sprinkler head (which I may still do if this doesn't work the way I planned) is because it seemed to cut down on rust outbreaks when I didn't overhead water. The beds with the soaker hoses had 2 DLs last year develope rust. I had to pot up some DLs I ordered in Sept and Oct last year. These I had to overhead water and a lot of these got rust. I've read that other people have noticed this also so we will see if it helps at all.
