Well -- I figure the ZS6 is probably four years old. My cousin's works perfectly -- and the one that I just bought does too. The person I bought mine from said that this was his own personal camera, and he cared for it well -- but I don't know how much it was used. That could factor into whether it holds up well or not. I know that my cousin's camera has been used a LOT and it's in perfect condition.
Wonder if the Amazon review were for newer versions? Are you averse to buying a used one on Ebay? I've had very good luck..................and that way, if it doesn't last forever, you're not out a lot of money.
