A few photo's from my backyard today to start the May thread ...
Red-winged Blackbirds, two males and a female:
Red-bellied Woodpeckers, first two photo's are of a female, the last one a male
Mourning Doves and a Northern Cardinal, male (this photo was taken through the window):
And, I glanced out the window around 5 O'clock this evening and saw a Red-shouldered Hawk perched in the Cypress tree. Apparently it wasn't very hungry because there were a couple of other birds in the same tree. I grabbed my camera and got a couple of pic's through the window before a Mockingbird began dive bombing the hawk and chased it off.
