SHADY REST GARDENS is an AHS DISPLAY GARDEN located in northwest Georgia about 50 miles northwest of Atlanta and 30 miles east of Rome. We are located about 2.5 miles from I-75. Our daylilies are at their peak bloom around the second week of June. We currently grow over 1950 registered daylilies (most less than 10 years old) plus over 650 that belong to friends who had to relocate out of state because of a job change. We grow our own seedlings, too. We have over 3 landscaped acres with companion plants, over 200 varieties of hostas, numerous hydrangeas, evergreen and deciduous azaleas, Japanese maples, and many more plants, shrubs, and trees. We have added more than 30 different cultivars of Japanese iris for this spring. We have two goldfish/koi ponds and a flowing creek bed beside a small cabin, The Shady Rest. We have been here 30 years and have expanded until we have little space left. Visitors are welcome. Our phone number is 770-386-0438. Please call to set up a time for a tour. We will be at the National in Valdosta, Ga. May 26-30. If you are traveling north from Valdosta and pass through Atlanta going north on the 31st or later, call us to schedule a visit. We'd love to see you!
