'Hetty, this is off subject, but how do I get my plumeria to bloom? I've had it for years and it must be about 4 feet tall but it has never bloomed. It has three branches. I think it is supposed to have white flowers but it's been so long since I got it that I forget. It's in a pot and it gets full sun. I water it once a week. I feed it once in a blue moon.'
I'd first like to know if it was a cutting that you rooted, or possibly a seedling? Seedlings can take several years to bloom. Then I would say - keeping in mind that these are meant to be trees, what size pot is this plant in? Full sun should work, and I assume in California you would need to water it every week, and feeding every once in a while should be fine too.
If this was my plant (without knowing more about it) I would repot it in fresh soil and give it a good timed-release fertilizer. And then it might just be a case of being patient. Some plumeria are generous bloomers and others are more stingy..... There are plumeria in my yard that put on a great show every year, and others that bloom maybe once every three or four years.... Maybe you need to get a few more??
