My H. mutabilis cutting, nursed in the greenhouse since January, planted out too early in spring (dropped all its pretty leaves but grew new ones after I gave it a plastic bottle cloche to protect it from the cool nights) has had its single shoot broken off. There is a tiny bud near the base of the cutting just barely peeking, but I worry it won't grow much to speak of with all the delays this season already in terms of warm weather, and I sort of planned my garden around it this year. What do you think? Should I search out new cuttings? Where would you recommend I buy a plant if it comes to that?
