My understanding is that "full sun" means 6 or more hours a day of uninterrupted sun. In Arizona, 50% shadecloth will still yield the equivalent of 6 hours a day of sun (because, in reality, everyone's sunny days are much longer than 6 hours this time of year).

If you are in doubt, call your extension service.
