A liner is a plant that comes in a pot 1" x 1".
A hosta liner is a tissue culture, a clone, that is less than one year old. These take great care and take much longer to mature. The first winter, they may not freeze. I put mine, sometimes just under 1,000 of them, in a cold greenhouse where the temperature will not drop under 40°.
