To grow them (Meconopsis in general) well, people here have sunk large containers in the ground and created bog* environments. They are certainly hardy - the challenge is creating the environment for them.\
*Maybe I shouldn't say "bog" environments, but areas that can be kept moist, in comparison to the surrounding area, in this dry climate.
