I would rather save the bamboo as a last resort. I know the rate of speed of growth of the loropetalum & viburnum & am somewhat familiar with the rate of growth of the ligustrum - although ligustrum can vary greatly from my personal experiences.
Okay, here are the photos. Imagine the arrow line crossing one photo & continuing to the next. This is the area I would like to cover back by the fence where we have let (GASP!) the Virginia Creeper grow, nay, encouraged it to grow on the fence for the privacy aspect it affords us. The photos were taken when the sun was fully shining & this is how the area in question looks all day long, no more sun, no less sun. Remember that the oak I have drawn a circle on the trunk, will grow over the years & make the area more shady presumably.

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
