The Shade Dots seem to be made from simple corrugated plastic available in sheets at craft stores. If you can cut a couple of circles, you can attach them to perhaps bamboo stakes or other with cork(?) or other(?) on top and bottom and sealed with caulk to stop them from sliding up and down?
