Thank you, Kent. I am afraid, however, that this may be one of those cases where the plant was sold to the person as Dietes irioides. There are multiple references on the net about D. grandiflora being sold as D.irioides for many, many years. Looking at the entries in D. irioides, it looks like several of the photos from different sources are actually now considered to be D. grandiflora. Should I be contacting that many people for what appears to be more of a name change/update rather than "regular" mis-identified plants?
