My dad always had big borders of zinnias planted along his veg garden edge and I dont know why I dont do the same. I think it's because zinnias are sort of "forgotten" flowers....they're old fashioned and everybody wants something new. Also, I remember that the older varieties got a lot of mildew, but I think they've bred some varieties that don't?

I am not too pleased about seed from Lowe's....almost nothing germinated. I wonder if they sit the pallets of stuff in hot warehouses or something? I recommend mail order...Shumways is good, and so is Jung's.
I am not "country" I am "landed gentry."
