Update. I did stop and picked up 3 of the small plants off the bloom. Here's a pic of how they looked when I got them. I stuck them in a planter with a C. bivittatus 'Ruby'. One had what kind of looked like a bud on it but I thought that was unlikely and that it must be a new shoot.

Here it is today, it definitely looks like a bloom but not the kind of bloom that was on the mother plant. It's odd.
