I just want to comment that this has totally changed everything I thought I knew about tagetes, namely Tagetes patula and T. erecta!

So I was confused when I tried to accomplish various searches...

Here is what comes up when I search for Tagetes patula: http://garden.org/plants/searc...

Here is what comes up when I search for African marigold: http://garden.org/plants/searc...

Without going into detail - since I've always considered (and still do) that:
Tagetes patula is French marigold;
Tagetes erecta is African marigold;
this caused much confusion for me.

I guess it would help to add the following--
can we please add 'African marigold' to the common name list for Tagetes erecta
and add 'Tagetes patula' to the Botanical names list?

African Marigold (Tagetes erecta)
