Having spent 20+ years living in New England, I know what a special and beautiful place the Northeast is, and how special the people are there. I still have fond memories of all the mountain laurel blooming on the side of the roads in Connecticut, and got my own mountain laurel 'Elf' in honor of that memory. And of course the fall foliage is to die for.
No one who has ever spent a significant amount of time in the Northeast can ever truly abandon it!
Here in Maryland, it is a different animal--the summers are hotter and more intense, the winters are shorter and generally milder. We get only hints of the beautiful fall colors you enjoy each year, but our springs are spectacular!
I know the deep bonds and friendships that regional forums can engender. We hope that the Midatlantic Gardening Forum can serve to expand those rather than take away from them, with increased opportunities for regional swaps and friendship-making.
