I'm a fan of windchimes. I have made a few too - will share soon. Some really nice ones you have shared here. But for now, I observed a possible modification to the second picture above [where there is a watering can seen]. I see the threads touching the pipes as it hangs. See my diagram. You need to insert something to keep the threads from touching the pipes - it will vibrate nicely and fully. Try. I'm sure you are not getting the best sound as I perceive from that image.
