Dave and Trish - your podcast has lifted a few burdens from my shoulders. Thank you.

I was never one to believe in all the chemical foods and just hearing Trish say you do feed plants with compost and manure was music to my ears. I will no longer feel guilty for not using the products that line store shelves. Generally I will give a plant food when I am initially planting it but only compost after that...if I think of it and have the energy!

There are just the two of us so I do buy a few tomatoes and I only saved seeds once. I can understand your views on choosing not to spend on hybrid seeds. I'll probably get more tomatoes than I can use next year since I planted two tomatoes (and Jack did the same) in some of our compost piles. As of this afternoon one tomato is vying for top spot, 8' tall, with a Jackmanii clematis.

Here are the four tomatoes growing rampantly in two compost bins. The middle compost bin is really there but just covered by the tomatoes growing towards it from both directions.

Sorry, Trish, but I do agree with Dave about the peanuts! It's such a huge waste of time to get rid of them.

"One for the road?" Come on, Dave, you can do better than that!
