Make sure the pot isn't a whole lot bigger than the roots. You can always up-size the pot in a few months. They are better off rootbound. Show us another photo once you've potted it!
Those are flower buds, don't over water! Actually, plant into moist mix, then don't water for at least a week. Buds easily drink too much and rot, ugh! If the plant is now in a very wet pot, dump it out and pot again with just moist.
The caudex should fatten up some in a month or so, it looks to me to be dry, as in raisin opposed to grape.
