This stem looks like it may be fasciated. Fasciation in lilies presents itself as a flattened stem and a proliferation of buds/blooms, more than normally expected. A fasciated lily stem can make quite a spectacular display of blooms. Usually the bulb presents a normal stem and bud count the following year and no harm is done.
