It's probably most helpful when used as a fertilizer to grow regular food-stuffs, Caroline. Symphytum officinalis isn't considered to be poisonous, but if consumed it should probably be of minute quantities in early springtime, like you would do with dandelion. It's a very powerful herb and probably shouldn't be eaten by everyone.

I haven't tried mine. I just can't get past the idea of chewing up those ultra-hairy leaves! Whistling
