I let all my colocasia (they are in pots) go dormant. I quit watering them when the nights get consistently in the mid to low 60's. Once they die back I tuck them away on the floor of the tropicals greenhouse which is kept at "don't freeze" temps at night and put plants on top of them. The plants on top are on a solid flat surface so when I water them the run off doesn't filter into the plants on the bottom. About once a month I'll stick my finger in a few and if they are totally bone dry I'll give them a little water. They do quite well with this treatment.

You can see in the picture how I've turned milk crates sideways - the colocasia and also some of my gingers are on the bottom.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
