I'm not sure if that's *all* I've heard or not. I guess ears interpreted dirt falling as rustling leaves because I expected the sound to be rustling leaves? Usually I dunk pots in a big bucket of water to evict possible soil dwellers, but that's so messy, drippy...

That frog story is cute, Planto!

Deborah - I wouldn't be surprised at all to find about any plant munching critter, and still haven't ruled out finding one. I've had squirrels, numerous caterpillars, and who knows what else munching on my plants this summer. A lot of the ones I've brought in so far didn't necessarily need to be rescued from cold yet, but if they get eaten anymore, there won't be anything left. I don't think my holiday cacti are any bigger by now than they were this spring - and I know some are smaller. So frustrating!

If I see any caterpillar poo, investigation is warranted! Last winter, in like January, after plants had been inside for a couple months, I found a couple caterpillars on holiday cacti. Taking plants outside is definitely an adventure!
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)
