I remember my mom hanging these from one end of the clothesline in our basement. We live in Maryland and just as the temps started dipping into the low 40's she would dig them up, wash the roots and let them dry out, trim them back a bit, removing any blooms and dust the cut ends with Cinnamon. She didn't use paper bags. She would replant in the spring. A yearly ritual as we didn't have alot of spare money for plants. Here in Central Florida I can get away with just leaving them in the pot and put the pot in the barn if we are going to have freezing temps.
