Glen, keep in mind that the thickness and the density can vary quite a bit with cork. If you plan on allowing your staghorn(s) to get large, purchase a slab of cork that is at least 2" thick, is dense, and is at least 12"x18". I seldom see these extra-thick, extra-dense slabs and of the 10 large slabs of cork I purchased in the summer, only one was extra-thick (3"!) and extra-dense. Compared to the average 1.5" thick slab, this slab weighed almost twice as much as a similarly sized one. You might have to do some searching to find one like this.
