Sending good vibes!
Taking a cutting is why I have Kalanchoe x houghtonii at all. There was an invasion of them in the B&B we stayed at in New Orleans in April, '13. As we were leaving, I snapped the top off of one growing in a crack in the parking lot, laid it in the back seat. When we got home, I laid it on the front porch and accidentally forgot it for a couple days, baking in the sun. I stuck it in the ground, and in about a month, I snapped it off again and put the tip in a pot... By now, this plant is in a bunch of my pots, from snapping the tips periodically, and from all of the babies that form at the leaf edges.
If you remove a healthy leaf and leave it (away from water or soil) in a bright spot, that will force babies to begin to form. Here are various Kalanchoe leaves about 4-5 weeks after being removed from mama plants. Be very careful, Kals are very addicting!
Edit: Oops, in the bottom right of that pic, are some Graptoveria leaves.
