Here's some examples of the blue light encountered in the hours before sunrise. A couple experimenting with a flashlight on the tripod and another using the flash. And a few showing the changes at different times of the day.

When the camera is reading the light and the color of the daylily, I've found that the purple colors produce the most problems and confusion. Another daylily, Pure and Simple, was shot a couple minutes later and we don't see that problem at all. It seems the camera was able to compensate with no problems on the orange.
